Cleland, Herdman Fitzgerald, 1869-1935

Herdman F. Cleland (1869-1935) was born in Milan, Ill., and graduated from Oberlin College in 1894. He taught natural science at Gates College before receiving a Ph. D. from Yale University in 1900. After serving as an Assistant in geology at Cornell University (1900-1901), Cleland accepted a position as Instructor in geology and botany at Williams College.
